Salvation is the Starting Point of a New Life

The first step of knowing the one and only true God comes only from God. Ephesians 2:8-9. It is called grace prior to being saved. The grace enables the human person to know God, to choose God, to experience God.

This grace is bestowed on the person by Word and of God. Romans 10:17 The person hears it, upon hearing the Word, this grace confirms it and enables the person to see, feel, choose and accept the Savior.

But this experience does not mean the individual will choose to accept God, he is but only enabled to do so. The person could only choose if he will deny or accept the wisdom that the grace bestowed upon him.

Acceptance is the preferred option of God for men, for He did not want anyone to perish. 2 Peter 3:9. In contrast, men tend to fall away from God.

Since the fall of Adam and Eve to sin, it has become the natural inclination of every man, to go his own selfish way away from God. The sad part is not all men could accept the call of God.

Because accepting God also means that man is a sinner who needs someone to pay for his sins. Not everybody could this truth for so many reasons.

But for those individuals who positively answer to this grace, this experience will now lead to becoming a new person. A new being who is willing to forget his old habits or old life savoring in sins, in favor of the new-found life, the person is now born again. John 3:3

But the question now is how will you live this new-found freedom if you have come to accept Jesus? Romans 6:22

After you have experienced a genuine conversion, it is the day of your new birth. It’s your new Christian birthday. Nevertheless, it will not be an easy life.

What is the next step after the new-born experience? Today, let’s look at what a newly born-again Christian should do after he experienced the genuine salvation from Christ.

We must be Equipped to Build up the Church

The church is a group of believers, the Bible calls it the Body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:27. Every part of your physical body has a specific function, the same with the church. Every believer is part of the body, everyone has his own purpose for the church.

As a genuine follower of Christ, we are to build up the church until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13. It is the reason why there are many functions inside the church.

Everybody has a task given by God Himself. It is now our duty as a follower to fulfill this purpose. It is one of the reasons why we are called.

Another meaning attributed to church is the word “called out”. We are called, remember the grace I stated at the start of this article?

Though that grace speaks silently in everyone’s innermost being, and we answered in almost wordless but heartfelt prayer.

The call to every person on the Earth is sent in a loud and shouting call “Repent! For Jesus is coming!” Matthew 3:2.

Then why God called us? It is very clear in bible passages that everyone is called to put our faith in Jesus Christ, the one and only Savior. 1 Corinthians 1:2.

All of us is called to accept Jesus, to make Him our personal Lord and Savior. In joining Christ in His body, the church, we are entering a new lifestyle that requires a new beginning, a fresh start to continuously pursue Him.

We must now put our life – dream, plans, belief, passion, trust, faith and everything to Jesus.

It’s essential that we look up to Jesus when circumstances require us to make life-changing decisions, when we face trials and everyday problems. In this way, we could have the first-hand experience of his favor and blessing.

Those experiences are one of the so many tools that we can share with others who may be also looking for hard to answer questions about life.

This is also where equipping for the ministry comes to play. To lead others to Christ is our great commission and it will require a different set of skills for the new believer.

Another word for equipping is training, preparing or schooling.Responding to the call of the ministry requires sets of training. Luke 6:40.

Since the birth of the Church, up to the present time, many have given their lives to know how to properly answer the call to follow Jesus. They have surrendered their whole life in training, many have become martyrs.

The twelve disciples had experienced it first-hand from our Lord Jesus Christ by following Him literally every day. The apostles followed their training. In our present time, ministry training is undeniably more than essential.

I have seen that equipping for the ministry also defines our purpose. Hebrew 13:20-21. As a person, when you know your purpose, especially in the ministry, things like hardship, suffering, lack of resources and many other things that may come against our continuous Christian walk fades away.

It does not mean those hindrances totally banish from our perspective, they still exist, blurred at the back of our mind. There are still worries but is overcome by faith that God would be there to help us in proper time.

Because with Christ-centered training, our purpose for the body of Christ becomes clear. When we have sense of purpose, we get to have focus, our walk becomes enjoyable.

And nothing could hinder us pursue this God-given mission. I pray that we may all continue our walk to seek and share the truth in the gospel. In the process, also being transformed into Christlikeness.

To accept Christ as Lord and Savior is the most important life-changing decision a person could do. This will result in the transformation in every part of the believer’s life. The magnitude of these transformations on this person could not be hidden, more especially if he is willing to be trained.
