This post is for those who are in the Ministry of expounding the Word of God. You may be a preacher of a big or small congregation. This will also fit those servant workers who handle a small group and regularly encourage a group of believers.
Even if you’re a father or mother who teaches a child to read and meditate on the Word, this post would help you.
You do not need to become a preacher to study the Word. Everyone can and should meditate on the Word of God to see and know its deepest meaning.
However, a preacher must personally dig deeper into the Word. He must study the Word of God inches deep to its meaning every day.
He must make it a lifestyle to read and meditate on the Word of God. Remember that the speaker could only share what he has in the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus is the Truth.
The preacher of the Gospel must have the personal experiences of what he is saying to make it more truthful.
The preacher of the Gospel must have the personal experiences of what he is saying to make it more truthful. Also, personal experience will personally confirm the message truthfully.
The preacher however educated he must be, how gifted he may be, could only share what he knows about the message of the Gospel revealed to him by the Father.
So, it is a must for every preacher, it is more than necessary to profoundly study the Word of God. It is in prayer, in a closed communion with the Author of the Word that anyone can know the message of the Gospel.
It does not stop just by studying the Word. The human mind is always subject to errors. The thought of the Lord Almighty is much higher than human thought.
The Word is a Word from the God of all gods. It has its meaning for the salvation of one’s soul, so the best expounder of the Word is God himself.
The true preacher of the Word prays until the message of the Word is shining a bright light to him. The message of the Word is revealed by God in prayer and worship.
The heart of the preacher must confirm and accept completely the revealed truth because as a preacher, he is the first recipient of the message. If there are doubts about the message, much prayer is needed to erase all doubts in the message.
Being a preacher is not a role, rather a preacher of the Word serves humbly as a vessel of the message of the Word.
He is like a funnel used to direct the flow of water. A funnel is a vessel through which the water could flow continuously. Just like a preacher who let the message of the Gospel flow to the heart of the listener from the Lord.
A humble contrite heart is necessary for everyone who’s in the ministry of the Word. God’s anointing freely overflows into a humble broken heart.
It is God, the Father who anoints the speaker, He is also the one who teaches the expounder the meaning of the Word. Anointing flows from the Father, thru the Holy Spirit to the preacher.
God gives much anointing to those who are genuinely giving all the glory to Him. A preacher must not get any of the glory which belongs only to the Father.
So, any hints of pride in the mind and heart of the preacher must be removed. Besides, it is the Father who blesses the listener, not the preacher.
If the preacher has the right motive, has a humble heart, if he only follows and obeys the will of the Father, the listener’s heart could be stirred up by the Presence of the Lord thru the ministry of the Word.
It is only the genuine Presence of the Lord that gives the right interpretation of the Gospel.
The work of the preacher is to prepare the Word in his life’s testimony, not in doing research online for that topic.
Yes, research may help but it should not be the focused resource of every message which God wants to tell His listener.
The preacher’s Christian walk testified in his words, inspired by the Holy Spirit, humble before the God Almighty, is the best topic to preach.
It is in the preacher’s personal encounter with God that he may draw an example and inspiration to the topic stirred by the Holy Spirit.
First is the impression of the Lord to a certain topic, second is the biblical basis interpreted in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then a personal experience as an example from the preacher.
The message is confirmed in the heart of the preacher with deep truthful conviction in the guiding Help of the Holy Presence.
It is made clear by God in longing authoritative prayer, accompanied by victory declaring worship songs not just once, but in a series of an intimate and personal encounter with God.
In every light giving message revealed in prayer, a corresponding verse must be found in the Bible.
The Bible is the final authority given to every man by God as a reference for heavenly information. The Bible confirms what the Lord is saying to the preacher’s thought.
We can compare the preparation for the word of encouragement to something like preparing a special dish for an important person. A well carefully cooked special food for a specific person.
The dish is cooked at the right temperature, right pot, prepared with all needed ingredients, chopped to right sizes and shapes to extract its desired delicious taste. It gives full satisfaction to the consumer.
Just the same with the preparation of the Word of encouragement. If the topic is received in prayer, prepared with the right biblical references, with fitted illustrations, alive in the preacher, built with the guidance from the Holy Spirit, it will give full satisfaction to the listener.
When the preacher has the personal experience of the topic, he can extract the deeper meanings of the Message of the Gospel inches deep.
To be a vessel of the Ministry of the Word is not just reading the verses in the Bible and then giving own personal interpretations.
The Truths should be extracted, with the Holy Spirit in front as a teacher, and personal experiences backing up the revelations, the Message of the Gospel becomes real.
The anointing of the Father flows to the heart of the preacher. With the aiding of the Holy Spirit, God searches the heart of the speaker for the right motives.
A small residue of pride which would take even a little glory from the Lord may hinder the free-flowing grace from God to the listener.
The preacher should have a heart that is always bowed down to the Father. An expounder’s humble and contrite heart to serve only the Lord in the Ministry of the Word is a vessel of wisdom.
It is with the right motive of the preacher that God will allow His anointing to freely overflow. This preacher’s pure heart will move the heart of God to bestow His abundant presence on the listener’s heart.
The preacher’s victorious prayer for the Word gets the loving presence of the Father.
Thru the Holy Spirit, using the voice of the preacher echoing the Gospel, the Message of the Gospel is easily received by the listener convicting their hearts about the will of the Father.
The preacher’s praying humble heart that continually asks for the guidance of the Holy Spirit gives him much anointing needed for expounding the Word of God.
This anointing that comes only from the Father extracts all the juices of the Message of the Word which cut to the heart.
The Word must come with all the proper ingredients. Anointed praying preacher, humble heart, correct motive, carefully studied topic, right biblical verses, and illustrations.
Preceded by the genuine power from on High, the Word of God becomes powerful, it pierces the heart of the listener.
